When dining out with kids, every parent knows that their child is a ticking time bomb. Your kiddo can only sit still for a certain period of time before the meltdown kicks in.
That’s why it’s important to have an arsenal of kid-friendly restaurants that don’t mind the noise and serve up dishes for picky eaters. Luckily, south suburb Tinley Park offers some perfect options.
Tokyo Steakhouse
- Address: 9436 179th Street, Tinley Park
What child can resist an onion volcano, rice heartbeat or a Hibachi chef throwing eggs in their hat? Whether your child will eat the food or not, they are in for a traditional Hibachi show at Tokyo Steakhouse. We especially like the seating at this restaurant because it is conducive to a highchair and doesn’t have only booths like a few other Hibachi restaurants. Tip: if you’ve got a picky eater in tow, ask the chef to whip up some scrambled eggs!
Eggheadz Cafe
- Address: 16952 Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park
Picky eaters rejoice! Eggheadz Cafe has a huge menu and literally offers everything for the most difficult, plain and picky eaters. Morning risers can enjoy Mickey Mouse-shaped pancakes with chocolate chips or Oreos and mini omelets. For lunch or dinner, Eggheadz serves up mac and cheese, chicken tenders and pizza. All kid’s meals come with juice or milk and are priced under $10. Pair it with a coloring menu and your child is sure to be content.
Ed & Joes Restaurant & Pizzeria
Offering the best of both worlds for parents, Ed & Joe’s is the kind of place your kids can be loud and messy, while at the same time, you can enjoy a delicious bite and much-needed drink. Ed & Joe’s is famous for its gourmet pizzas, offering everything from taco pizza and cheeseburger pizza to junk yard pizza and caprese salad pizza. Plus, there’s a new, unusual pizza special every month! Nearly 20 craft beers are on tap and the weekly chef’s features (mango salmon, chicken margarita pasta), provide some upscale cuisine.
Gatto’s Restaurant
- Address: 8005 West 183rd Street, Tinley Park
Walking into Gatto’s feels like you are walking into a friend or family member’s home – a familiar and cozy place that’s been serving up family recipes for more than two decades. Kiddos will be satisfied with child-friendly menu staples like chicken fingers and grilled cheese, as well as half orders of pasta, while grown-ups can enjoy fan favorites from an extensive menu like garbage salad, eggplant parmesan and fried calamari.
