The play is based on the beloved children’s books Corduroy and A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman. In this stage adaptation, the teddy bear’s button has gone missing, and he can’t go home without it. Audiences will laugh along as they follow Corduroy’s heartwarming adventure to find the missing button. The story is a tale of friendship that all ages can enjoy.

  • Tuesdays at 11 a.m. (except June 25 and July 9)
  • Wednesdays at 11 a.m. (except July 10) 
  • Thursdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (except July 4)
  • Fridays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. 
  • Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. 
  • Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. 

Tips for visiting Chicago Shakespeare Theater with kids

  • The performance lasts about one hour. There is no intermission. 
  • An audio-described performance for guests who are blind or have low-vision will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
  • A sensory-friendly performance will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10.
  • ASL interpreted performances are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, July 12.

  • Guests are encouraged to bring a children’s book to exchange at Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Little Free Library. 
  • After the performance, children can show their ticket at the Chicago Children’s Museum, located just steps away from the theater, and enjoy free admission! 
  • On Wednesday, June 26, the Chicago Children’s Museum will host Storytime with Corduroy featuring members of the cast. 
  • On Saturday, June 29, enjoy a Teddy Bear Brunch at Harry Caray’s Tavern. Guests can take photos with characters and enjoy a teddy bear themed menu.
