Best Indoor Amusement Parks in Chicago and the Suburbs

Amusement parks that are open all year long? We’re big fans. You can ride rollercoasters, hit the bumper cars and snack on all your midway favorites at these Chicagoland spots.

We put Chicagoland’s indoor amusement parks to our very scientific “fun test” and these are our favorites. So grab some cotton candy and keep summer alive at one of these fun destinations.

Safari Land Indoor Amusement Park

Kids will love: Tiger Terror is the largest indoor roller coaster in Illinois that climbs almost to the ceiling with stomach-flopping drops. They even have a real Tilt-a-Whirl.

Adults will love: Atlantis Restaurant is tasty and comfortable, situated right at the front door, a great check-in point for the kids.

Mechanical rides: Tiger Terror roller coaster, Snake Pit bumper cars, Safari Speedway go-karts, Tilt-a-Whirl, Monkey Jump, MaxFlight flight simulator, mini carousel.

Other features: Animal theme offers good photo ops outside and inside. Bowling alley and pool tables, soft play area for young children. Rides are all restricted by height so take a look around to see what your children will be able to do before buying tickets or wristbands. Tons of video and ticket redemption games available.

Food options: Atlantis Restaurant includes amusement park staples plus appetizers, salads, homemade pizza, spaghetti and chicken parmesan. All very reasonably priced.

Gizmo’s Fun Factory

Kids will love: Zipping through the air on the zip line that gives you a bird’s eye view of Gizmos.

Adults will love: Showing their fancy footwork as they use their speed and agility to dodge lasers in Juke-N-Box.

Mechanical rides: Widget Whirl (bumper cars), go-karts

Other features: 70 arcade games, Ratchets & Ropes with Zipline, laser tag against robots, wall climbing, Tinker Tot Toyland’s soft play maze with foam balls

Food options: The Concoction Café has food you all crave – pizza, wings, burgers, and even salads. Adults should make their way to The Lab for beer and wine.

Legoland Discovery Center

Kids will love: The Technicyle offers a real challenge since kids need to pedal faster to go higher.

Adults will love: While Dragon Quest does not offer the climbs and dips, the LEGO creations, which also move, are a real marvel.

Mechanical rides: Dragon Quest roller coaster, Technicycle LEGO TECHNIC flying ride.

Other features: The real draw is the LEGO immersion. Kids can experiment and build with all different types, watch a 4D movie, visit the LEGO Factory or work with a LEGO Master Builder.

Food options: Second floor café with coffee, pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads.

Odyssey Fun World

Kids will love: The two-story wheel in Tinley Park offers a bird’s eye view of the whole location.

Adults will love: Deals and coupons found on its website that make it affordable fun.

Mechanical rides: Naperville features The Frog Hopper wild bounce ride, Dizzy Clown (spinning cars that elevate), bumper cars and the FX Simulator. Tinley Park features The Himalaya roller coaster, Ferris wheel and bumper cars.

Other features: Exploration Adventure four-story play structure, laser tag and paintball (Naperville only).

Food options: Chipper’s Café offers kids’ favorites and value meals. Save room for Eli’s Cheesecake.

Enchanted Castle

Kids will love: The new VR ride with 360 degree views of the action as you twist and turn.

Adults will love: Navigating the laser maze like Catherine Zeta Jones in Entrapment.

Mechanical rides: Go-karts, bumper cars, Catapult Ride

Other features: Black light mini golf, laser tag, VR experience, mini-bowling, a playland for kids 12 and under, game room,

Food options: Have a feast at Dragon’s Den Restaurant with home-made pizza, sandwiches, wraps and entrees, delicious appetizers, fresh salads and desserts.

Fun Zone

Kids will love:  Bumping and spinning fellow riders at the Spin Zone Bumper Cars

Adults will love: Saving money with daily specials.

Mechanical rides: Spin Zone Bumper cars, VR Pods

Other features: Black light laser tag, game room/arcade, indoor playground with slides and balls, soft play area, XD Theatre

Food options: Sandy’s Bar & Grill serves pizzas, burgers, salads and more.
