Here are some ways to show your support for our veterans.

We’ve been honoring veterans for their service as a national holiday for more than 100 years. Here are some local events to help you honor veterans this Veterans Day.

City

Free Admission on Veterans Day

Nov. 10-11, 2023

The Pritzker Military Museum & Library is offering free admission on Friday and Saturday for everyone in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony

Nov. 11, 2023

Honor veterans who served in wars and times of peace. Doors open at 10 a.m., ceremony at 11 a.m. RSVP by Nov. 7.

North/Northwest Suburbs

Veterans 5K Run & Walk

 Nov. 4, 2023

  • Address: Mercyhealth Sportscore One, Veterans Memorial Park, 1288 Elmwood Road, Rockford
  • Cost: $35/adult 5K, $15/ages 17 and under 5K, free/ages 10 and under fun run

Participate in a 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Veterans Drop-In Center in Rockford. Registration required.

Veterans Day Observance

Nov. 10, 2023

Join the New Trier VFW Post #4831 to honor United States war veterans. There will be an honorary guest speaker, presentations of the colors and more.

South Suburbs 

Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony

Nov. 11, 2023

Watch the annual Veterans Day Parade. Immediately following the parade, there will be a commemorative ceremony in the Metra Commuter Lot.

Western Suburbs

Veterans Day Observance

Nov. 3, 2023

Commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremony attended by community members, friends, employees, local schools, churches and war heroes.

Veterans Day Parade

Nov. 4, 2023

The 21st Annual Veterans Day Parade is hosted by the Village of Hillside and the Broadview/Hillside American Legion Post #626. 

Veterans Day Breakfast

Nov. 10, 2023

  • Address: Warrenville Community Building Gym, 3S240 Warren Ave., Warrenville
  • Cost: Free/veterans along with their spouse, their children or a special guest

Celebrate and honor Warrenville veterans while enjoying a delicious breakfast buffet. Registration required.

Free Parking – Veterans Day

Nov. 11, 2023

Visitors will receive parking for free in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Parade

Nov. 11, 2023

The city of Aurora holds its annual Veterans Day Parade to recognize local military service men and women. The event will include a ceremony with a military rifle salute by veteran organizations at 11 a.m.
