8 touch-a-truck events in and around Chicago

Touch-a-truck events give your little ones a chance to explore all kinds of trucks from fire trucks to dump trucks. We’ve rounded up the best events happening across Chicagoland in the upcoming months, so get ready to go truck crazy!

 

Touch-A-Truck

 

When: Aug. 10

 

Where: North Riverside Park Mall 7501 W. Cermak Road, North Riverside

 

Kids can explore a variety of vehicles including police cars, fire engines, cranes and a helicopter. There will also be an opportunity to meet the men and women who use the trucks every day, as well as music, giveaways, balloon artist, face painter and other entertainment.

 

YMCA’s Touch A Truck

 

When: Aug. 25

 

Where: Foglia YMCA, 1025 N. Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich

 

Enjoy a variety of cars, trucks and tractors. There will also be treats and special events for the kids, as well as inflatables, face painters and a sand/mud obstacle course.

 

Touch a Truck (Elmhurst)

 

When: Sept. 7

 

Where: Berens Park, 493 Oaklawn Ave., Elmhurst

 

Kids get the chance to touch, feel and climb through a variety of trucks and vehicles, including fire trucks, tow trucks and more.

 

Touch a Truck (Highland Park)

 

When: Sept. 7

 

Where: Sunset Woods Park, 1801 Sunset Road, Highland Park

 

Rev up the imagination and meet hometown heroes. Climb into the coolest trucks, tractors, cars and more and check out the view from the drivers seat. Tasty treats are available for purchase. Event could be cancelled due to inclement weather. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Touch-a-Truck (Skokie)

 

When: Sept. 21

 

Where: Oakton Community Center Parking Lot, 4701 Oakton St., Skokie

 

Kids fascinated with trucks can see the big rigs up close. Featuring many different trucks from the community, including the Skokie Park District, the event is shine only and will be cancelled in inclement weather. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Touch A Truck (McHenry Township)

 

When: Sept. 21

 

Where: Highland Park

 

Touch-A-Truck puts kids in the driver’s seat. Children touch, honk, and climb aboard a vast array of specialized vehicles and public safety equipment that are on display. Prizes included.

 

Touch-a-Truck (Norridge)

 

When: Sept. 21

 

Where: Norridge Village Hall, 4000 N. Olcott Ave., Norridge

 

Children can climb on, discover and explore their favorite big trucks and vehicles.

 

Trunk or Treat/Touch a Truck

 

When: Oct. 12

 

Where: St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School, 505 Kingston Dr., Romeoville

 

Try out your Halloween costume early with a Trunk or Treat and Touch A Truck event. Activities include food, crafts and games.
