4 kid-friendly breakfast spots in the Northwest Suburbs

Weekends are our favorite part of the week. There’s nothing quite like a hot cup of coffee, a boozy Bloody Mary and a sweet and savory combo to get your day started off on the right foot. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make it count, right? These four places not only offer delicious breakfast fare, but are also very accommodating for families.

Brunch Cafe

This is the newest spot to join our neighborhood; it opened eight weeks ago. The moment you walk through the door you are greeted by the super friendly staff, which feels like they are giving you a big hug. We love their plentiful kid and adult menu options and never-ending coffee refills. They also serve mimosas and bloodys.

Recommended adult menu item: Sweet Potato Skillet and a bottomless coffee.

Recommended kid menu item: Egg and Cheese Sliders or Baby cakes with fruity pebbles

8780 Dempster St, Niles (Check out their website for additional Chicagoland locations)

Le Peep

Ladies and gentleman, Le Peep is le chic (as hell). With a sweet menu including a featured pancake of the month, craft cocktails and spiked coffees, they help put a little pep in your step in the morning. Bottoms up! Their menu for littles is pretty expansive and kids will love all the fresh squeezed juices and smoothies.

Recommended adult menu item: Monte Cristo Crepes and a Beermosa

Recommended kid menu item: Kids Pancake Sandwich and a Chuck Berry Smoothie

10 E. Northwest Hwy. Mt. Prospect

B’s Sweet Bites

One of my favorite hometown bakeries expanded and opened a cafe. It proudly serves everything made from scratch. I especially love that they leave a small carafe on your table to refill your own coffee, because #butfirstcoffee. To start off your food adventure, you’re brought a warm and chewy plate of homemade English muffins served with whipped cinnamon sugar butter. Oh my gosh, it’s what Saturday night dreams are made of. Don’t fill up on them though, because there are so many other amazing things to eat.

Recommended adult menu item: Savory Rye Hash Cake or Cheesecake French Toast (they make their own bread!). These are big enough to share with the kiddos!

641 Oakton Pl, Des Plaines

Walker Bros. Original Pancake House

A staple in the North Shore area for the last 50 years, this breakfast spot does not disappoint with huge portions and reliable service. They whip up fluffy, football-sized omelets, creative crepes and pancakes, and the yummiest, thickest bacon. Kids love their activity mat with crossword puzzles and games. The line can sometimes be a bit obnoxious, but since you’re probably up when the rooster crows anyway, getting a spot shouldn’t be tough.

Recommended adult menu item: Apple Cinnamon Pancake and a side of bacon with fresh orange juice

Recommended kid menu item: 5 Dollar Blueberry Pancakes or Junior Chocolate Crepe

1615 Waukegan Rd, Glenview (Check out their website for additional Chicagoland locations)
