In-person events

Find the Leprechaun

March 1-6 and 8-13, 2022

  • Address: Various Winnetka Park District locations
  • Cost: Free

For two weeks in March, park visitors will be able to search for Lucky, the Leprechaun, a stuffed animal. Check Facebook for clues and make sure to bring your camera to snap of pic of the little guy. The first five people that share the picture of Lucky will receive a $10 gift card to a Winnetka business.

Elmhurst Annual St. Patrick’s Day ParadeOak Forest Fleadh

March 5, 2022

Includes more than 80 floats, Irish Dancers, the Shannon Rovers, local team mascots – Benny the Bull, Southpaw & Tommy Hawk – Chicago Highlanders, Medinah Clowns, Elmhurst Armpit Orchestra, featuring the world’s largest drum and the York High School Marching Band.

Oak Forest Fleadh

March 5, 2022

There’s a new route for 2022 for their 13th annual. You’ll go through the neighborhood and past Oak Forest Landmarks, such as St. Damian Church, Oak Forest High School, Valley Kingdom Ministries and more. The start and finish line is just steps away from Oak Forest Bowl. Hunt for the golden ticket that’s worth $1,000.

St. Patrick’s Day Bingo

Head to the Mount Greenwood Branch for a fun, St. Patrick’s Day themed Bingo game. Fun for all ages. Registration required.

Leprechaun Hunt

March 10, 2022

Join West Ridge Center for an indoor scavenger hunt to search for the sneaky little Leprechaun. You will be given a map of the building and clues to lead you to the Leprechaun and his hidden treasures. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Registration required. 

St. Patrick’s Day Party at Oak View Center

March 11, 2022

Kids ages 3 and up are invited to Oak View Center to join in on a fun filled afternoon of green games, tasty treats, creating clovers and more.

Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade & River Dyeing

March 12, 2022

  • Address: Downtown Chicago
  • Cost: Free

The 2022 theme is Honoring Chicagoland’s Essential Workers. It typically features more than 200 floats and marching bands. Chicago will also dye the Chicago River green in celebration.

Mercy Home for Boys and Girls Post-Parade Party

March 12, 2022

Guests will enjoy live Irish music and step dancers, Irish-themed food buffet, kid and adult beverages and more. There will be a special children’s activity section featuring carnival and arcade games, great prizes and balloon artists. Registration required.

Naperville St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 12, 2022

  • Cost: Free

Residents will be able to celebrate their Irish heritage by joining the West Suburban Irish for the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade kicks off on the corner of Mill Street and 5th Avenue, heads south on Mill to Jackson, crosses over to Main St. and ends at Water Street.

St. Paw-trick’s Day at Lower Rock Run Preserve – McClintock Road Access

March 12, 2022

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your four-legged friend. Dress up your dog in their best green tire and get their picture taken. Dogs will mingle with other furry friends at this event. Must have a dog permit to attend. They will be available for purchase. Registration required.

St. Patrick’s Day Event at Gallagher Way

March 13, 2022

Immerse yourselves in all things Irish with traditional live music, as well as a performance by the Trinity Irish Dancers. There will also be plenty of activities for the little ones including face painting, balloon artists, a wandering magician, arts and crafts, and lawn games. Green Beer, specialty cocktails, warm Irish coffee and hot chocolate will be served.

Yorktown Center is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a special event for mall-shoppers and their fur-friends. The event will include a St. Patty’s Day themed selfie photo op with decorations, costumes and a backdrop. Dog “beer” tasting and shamrock-shaped dog treats, too.
