Celebrate Pride Month at Kid-Friendly Events in Chicagoland

These local spots in Chicagoland are offering great family-family Pride events in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

June is Pride Month and that means there are tons of family-friend events happening all month long in Chicagoland. Check out the parades, music fests, storytelling and craft activities that go along with the Pride Month theme.

Walk with Pride! at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center

Pop Out with Pride at Woodson Regional

Kids ages 6-plus can celebrate Pride Month with a variety of LGBTQIA-themed activities around the library.

Share the Love Rainbow Wreaths at Santori Library

Ages 12-18 can make a wooden wreath, in honor of Pride Month. All materials will be provided.

Rainbow Heart Hands at Santori Library

June 6, 2025

  • Address: 101 S. River St., Aurora
  • Cost: Free

Kids ages 0-11 can come out to Santori Library to create a colorful craft, in honor of Pride Month. All materials will be provided. This is a ticketed event. Pick up tickets 30 minutes prior to the event.

Aurora Pride Parade

June 8, 2025

  • Address: E. Benton Street and S. Broadway, Aurora
  • Cost: Free

This annual parade is celebrating its fifth year. It begins at E. Benton Street and Broadway and travels northeast to Downer, then left on Downer to end at N. Middle Avenue.

Drag Story Time at Edgewater Branch

  • Address: 6000 N. Broadway, Chicago
  • Cost: Free

Kids ages 2-5 can enjoy a special storytime with books, songs, music, movement, rhymes and fingerplays with a guest drag performer. There will be open play time afterwards.

DIY Pride Sunglasses at Lincoln Belmont Branch

  • Cost: Free

Teens ages 13-plus can come out to Lincoln Belmont Branch to make their own Pride sunglasses to celebrate, while supplies last.

Lakeside Pride Presents “Brass Buttons” at Buena Circle

  • Cost: Free

All ages can come out to Buena Circle Park to join the Lakeside Pride Brass Buttons. Celebrate Pride month with a selection of songs that celebrate the individuality and beauty in everyone.

Rainbow Family Story Time at Merlo Branch

Kids ages 0-5 can join Merlo Branch for a rainbow story time that celebrates love. Participate in songs, rhymes, books and more.

Holographic Chocolate at Garfield Ridge Branch

Teens ages 13 and up can celebrate Pride Month by creating holographic rainbows on chocolate. Stop by to listen to music from your favorite LGBTQ+ artists and enjoy chocolate and snacks. Registration required.

Celebrating Pride Month: A Family Nail Painting Event at Santori Library

Kids ages 6 and up can come out to Santori Library to paint your nails and celebrate Pride Month. This is a ticketed event. Pick up tickets 30 minutes prior to the event.

Chicago Pride Fest

June 21-22, 2025

  • Address: Halsted from Addison to Grace, Chicago
  • Cost: $20/suggested donation

The festival features live music on three stages, a Youth Pride Space for teens, more than 150 vendors, drag shows, pet parade, dance exhibitions and more.

Rainbow Story Time at South Shore Branch

June 23, 2025

  • Address: 2505 E. 73rd St., Chicago
  • Cost: Free

Kids ages 0-5 can join the South Shore Branch for a rainbow story time that celebrates love. Participate in songs, rhymes, books and more.

Tie-Dye Party at Lincoln Park Branch

Navy Pier Pride

Families with kids of all ages can enjoy this family-friendly event that spreads pier-wide. There will be a variety of performances all day long. Experience music, dance, storytelling and other activities.

Chicago Pride Parade

June 29, 2025

  • Address: Broadway Ave. and Montrose Ave., Chicago
  • Cost: Free

The 54th annual Pride parade takes place through the north side of the city, ending at the intersection of Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road.
