Take Flight at Pilot Pete’s in Schaumburg

The aviation-themed restaurant is just plane fun for kids!

Summer is barely in the rearview but, with busy schedules and the holidays just around the corner, you may already be craving a vacation.

Luckily, you don’t have to board a plane to feel like you’ve been transported somewhere tropical. The next time your family needs a quick refresher, head to Pilot Pete’s in Schaumburg.

Quick details about Pilot Pete’s

  • Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Located at Schaumburg Regional Airport, Pilot Pete’s is all the fun of catching a flight without any of the hassle, reservations or airport security. The aviation-and-tropical-themed restaurant has a large American menu that includes all the staples — soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and barbecue — along with cocktails, daily food and drink specials and massive shareable plates.

Menu standouts include the First Class Lobster Salad Nachos, the Cuban sandwich and just about every salad and sandwich that includes its popular fried chicken. The Just 4 Kids menu for kids 12 and under includes grilled cheese, chicken fingers, burgers, pizza and other kiddie favorites.

Planes hang from the ceiling and tiki decor can be found everywhere you look, but the main attraction is the location. Families can watch planes, helicopters and even trains take off through the large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Make Schaumburg the destination for your next family day out. It may not be a tropical paradise, but with these fun activities for kids and a meal at Pilot Pete’s, it may just hold you over until you can book your next family vacation.
