4 restaurants in the northwest suburbs where kids can be kids

We get it; you love eating out, but the thought of bringing your kids along prevents you from doing it as often as you’d like. We used to feel the same, but we learned that it’s just a matter of finding the right place to eat. Here are a few of our favorite restaurants in the Chicago northwest suburbs that are kid approved.

Chuy’s Tex-Mex

1701 E. Golf Rd., Schaumburg

This restaurant is one of the newest to hit the Schaumburg scene. We dined here recently and have to say it’s great for kids! They have a cool atmosphere, large portions and they’re dedicated to serving only the freshest ingredients. I’m talking fresh guacamole, hand-made tortillas and roasted chicken. Don’t leave without trying their tres leches cake. A-mazing and huge!

Cool kid-friendly factor: Kids will be mesmerized watching them make tortillas on a traditional comal behind a glass window.

Hofbrauhaus Chicago

5500 Park Place, Rosemont

Oompah! Try Bavarian food such as larger-than-your head pretzels or a sausage tower. The fun and loud atmosphere is an ideal environment if you have kids that are, ahem, a little loud. Visit on Tuesdays when kids eat free.

Cool kid-friendly factor: The live entertainment plays catchy tunes that will have your kids dancing and singing the entire time.

Sushi Station

2486 N Randall Rd, Elgin

Inexpensive sushi, say what? Kids will stay entertained watching the conveyor belt go ‘round and ‘round with sushi, rolls and dessert. Plus, food is already there ready for you to grab so you can avoid those hangry kiddie (and adult) meltdowns. Fair warning: If your kid has curious hands, have them sit away from the conveyor belt.

Cool kid-friendly factor: How cool is it to watch your food go around and around on a moving conveyor belt?

2Toots Train Whistle Grill

203 S. Main St., Bartlett

Whenever we’re in the mood for a good burger and want to eat in peace, 2Toots is our go-to burger joint. While the kids are busy watching the train chug around the restaurant after it brings their food, we can enjoy our delicious grass fed burgers. Their shakes are always a nice treat, too!

Cool kid-friendly factor: Did I mention the trains?
