Being a parent is filled with countless precious moments, from our children’s first steps to their first words. They’re also filled with driving them from A to B, making sure that dinner’s ready and ensuring that the household runs smoothly, which often leaves us with little to no time for ourselves.
In hopes of giving moms a break, and with the help of Preface Agency and Chicago Parent, I’ve created the Chicago Parent Mom Makeover, or #CPMOMMAKEOVER, if you’re into hashtags as much as I am.
The Chicago Parent Mom Makeover is a 3-month long feature (June, July and August) which will focus on giving three local moms a much deserved makeover.
Our first mom is Virginia, a wife, mom of two, and teacher who recently became a stay-at-home mom. Virginia was interested in finding stylish options to dress her changing body.
With the help of Kim, owner of Tribeca boutique, 1035 West Madison Street, we were able to style Virginia in three different looks: Casual, Night Out and Formal.
Casual – Patterned maxi dress
Being stylish goes far beyond having a great outfit. Comfort goes a long way and nothing says comfort like a maxi dress. Often made of breathable fabrics, maxis are universally flattering, very forgiving, and are the perfect go-to for summer months.
Night Out – City lights shirt and white denim
Virginia informed us that she usually gravitates towards neutral colors, so in order to step things up, we wanted to take her out of her comfort zone. This fun “city lights” sleeveless shirt paired with white denim screams summer night out. We finished the look by rolling up the pants and adding a pair of nude wedged sandals to give added height.
Formal – Royal blue flared dress
With a wedding to attend only a few days away, the search was on for the perfect dress. The rich color complimented her skin tone and the cut highlighted her silhouette perfectly. She loved it so much she took it home.
