Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Naperville

Find a variety of family dining experiences in this western suburb.

Let’s face it – when it comes to keeping your child entertained during a meal out, tic tac toe and coloring pages can only get you so far. That’s why we sometimes have to pull out the big stops. Whether its dinner and a view or dinner and a show, Naperville offers many options for kid-friendly dining. Here are a few of our favorites.

Colonial Cafe

Address: 8 W. Gartner Road, Naperville

Colonial Cafe is an old school cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and legendary-style ice cream. Kids will enjoy an extensive menu ranging from birthday cake pancakes and crepes to chicken dippers and corn dogs. But save room for the world-famous kitchen sink special – a sundae with two whole bananas, six scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream, toppings of chocolate, pineapple and strawberry, covered with whipped cream, toasted almonds and a cherry. Finish the sundae and get a bumper sticker. Kids eat free on Monday after 4pm.

Everdine’s Grilled Cheese Company

If picky eaters can agree on one thing, it’s grilled cheese! If you littles like their comfort food super basic with just bread cheese and you are looking to elevate it to the next level, everyone will find something mouth-watering at Everdine’s. All grilled cheese sandwiches are served on buttery, crispy Texas toast with optional add ons including mac and cheese, buffalo chicken and tuna salad. Can’t find the perfect combo? Make your own.

Kiku Japanese Steakhouse

Finally, a meal where kids can put the tablets down! Families will enjoy dining at the hibachi grill at Kiku Japanese Steakhouse, where the chef prepares a tableside cooking show, complete with everyone’s favorite tricks – the onion volcano, the egg toss and if you’re lucky, you may even catch a piece of shrimp in your mouth! If your child doesn’t like traditional hibachi food, order them a side of white rice or ask the chef to make some scrambled eggs. Grown-ups will especially enjoy Kiku’s substantial saki menu.

Charlie’s Restaurant

Located in Bolingbrook just a short drive from Naperville, families will love eating breakfast or lunch with a panoramic view of airplanes taking off and landing at Clow Airport. This airport was built in the 1950s and is rooted in history. In fact, many of the pilots frequently dine at Charlie’s and love talking to patrons about their job. In addition to the view, Charlie’s caters to kiddos with a child approved menu that includes M&M pancakes, hotdogs and grilled cheese.
