If you’re itching for a getaway that the entire family can enjoy, KeyLime Cove Resort in Gurnee should be on the top of the list. Here are a few reasons to convince you. (As if you needed your arm twisted.)
Splash-tastic
This is probably the main reason to hit the resort, because who doesn’t enjoy splashing away at a water park? Families with kids of all ages will appreciate the variety of water fun. The park includes a fun area for tiny tots with a couple of slides while thrill seekers will enjoy zipping down the body slides and tube slides, or whirling down the vortex. The interactive water playground is sure to be a hit with its water sprays and giant pineapple pouring every few minutes. My personal favorite though is relaxing on a tube as the lazy river whisks us away.
Location, location, location
It’s always a plus when we can spend less time in the car, and more time having fun at the destination. Located in Gurnee, KeyLime Cove is a quick trip out of the city, but far enough away to feel like a getaway. And if you get tired of splashing around, you can always head to Lambs Farm, Six Flags Great America or even Gurnee Mills to get your shop on. In fact, they offer complimentary shuttle service to Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills. The resort also serves as a convenient home base if you’d like to cross the Wisconsin border to explore the family-friendly towns of Kenosha or Racine.
Birthdays are special
KeyLime Cove has a few ways to celebrate a special birthday. For a special welcome arrange to have your hotel door decked out with balloons and signs and have a cake ordered. To truly celebrate, go all out and arrange to throw a birthday party at the water park. Celebrations allow party guests access to the water park for the day without staying overnight. Packages also include food, decorations, cake, arcade credits and a reserved area in the park for the party.
Comfy rooms
The brightly-colored rooms added to the Key West-themed ambiance. We were more than happy with the Mangrove room, which was a one bedroom room that included a little sitting area with a sleeper sofa, TV, microwave and dining table. We loved that the sitting area was separated by a door, so we could enjoy our nighttime shows without disturbing the kids. It was perfect for our family of five.
More to do
After exploring the water park the entire day, families can retreat to the arcade for some good old fashioned fun. Kids will love playing games for tickets and, as was the case for my young kiddos, one of the best parts is picking out prizes. Oh, and did I mention there is an ice cream parlor on-site?
Squeaky clean
It’s a good idea for anyone visiting a water park to be concerned with how clean the water is. KeyLime Cove takes many strides in keeping the highest standards of water quality. In fact, the park boasts some of the cleanest water around, made possible with its state-of-the-art Ozone technology. Get pampered
Have your husband take the kids to the water park and indulge in a massage or pedicure at Paradise Mist Spa. Kids can also get the VIP treatment at The Enchanted Lagoon with their own manis and pedis. They can even make their own lotions and lip gloss.
