This year, Hanukkah begins on sundown of Dec. 25 and ends on the evening of Jan. 2. Also known as the festival of lights, it is celebrated by people of the Jewish faith to commemorate the rededication of the Second Temple. It is observed for eight days by the lighting of candles of a menorah.
