Pumpkin PlayLand
When: Oct. 5-27, weekends
Where: The Children’s Farm at The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park
Families will enjoy barn tours and the petting farm, a straw bale climber, the corn box, a spooky wood shed and a crazy maze. U-pick pumpkin farm will be open during the festival.
Not-So-Scary Stories in the Woods
When: Oct. 9
Where: Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, 9800 Willow Springs Road, Willow Springs
Join a naturalist and a LaGrange Park library staff member on a short hike while we tell some not-so-spooky stories at dusk. Recommended for ages 4 and older with a caregiver.
The Witches Tea
When: Oct. 11
Where: The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park
Enjoy traditional spider cider, a delicious herbal elixir (tea) that was grown in Lois’s organic garden at the farm and a giant spread of sweet and savory tea party fare from which to choose. Actress and story teller Megan Wells will conjure up an enchanting performance to entertain.
Trunk or Treat/Touch a Truck
When: Oct. 12
Where: St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School, 505 Kingston Dr., Romeoville
Try out your Halloween costume early with a Trunk or Treat and Touch A Truck event. Activities include food, crafts and games.
Halloween Bike Ride
When: Oct. 12
Where: Lake Katherine Nature Center, 7402 Lake Katherine Drive, Palos Heights
Meet in the Palos Heights City Hall parking lot to embark on a guided cycle ride out to Sag Quarries and back along the Cal-Sag Bike Trail. Halloween gear is encouraged and participants must have bike lights.
Hocus Pocus
When: Oct. 17
Where: Rialto Square Theatre, 102 N. Chicago St., Joliet
Watch Disney’s Halloween classic on the big screen. Movie is rated PG and runs 1 hour, 36 minutes.
Boo-Bingo Bash
When: Oct. 18
Where: Alsip Park District, 12521 S. Kostner Ave., Alsip
Families with kids of all ages can play Halloween bingo for fun prizes. Wear costumes to enter the costume contest; prizes will be awarded for most original, funniest and scariest costumes.
Touch-A-Truck & Treat
When: Oct. 24
Where: Palos Pool Parking Lot, 7607 West College Drive, Palos Heights
Dress in a Halloween costume and explore the trucks, tractors, heavy equipment, emergency vehicles and more. Children will also receive a Halloween treat from each vehicle. From 5-5:45 the vehicles will not use sirens, lights or loud noises for a sensory-friendly atmosphere.
Boo Bash
When: Oct. 24
Where: Orland Square Mall, 288 Orland Square, Orland Park
Features Halloween-themed games, snacks, crafts, and more for little ghouls and goblins to enjoy. Costumes encouraged.
Kids Halloween Party
When: Oct. 24
Where: 115 Bourbon Street, Merrionette Park
Costume contests, music, dancing, games, coloring contest, candy, balloon artists and snacks at this all ages event. Adults must be accompanied by a child.

Halloween Parade
When: Oct. 25
Where: 50-Acre Park, 91st and Rockwell, Evergreen Park
Evergreen Park resident children ages 1 month to 11 years and their parents are invited to march in the costume parade, pick a pumpkin from the patch, watch a Halloween-themed movie and take home a goodie bag.
Haunted Halloween Bash
When: Oct. 25
Where: Haunted Trails Family Entertainment Center, 7759 S. Harlem Ave., Burbank
Meet and greet with two of favorite superheroes plus dine on a “Monster” slice of one-topping pizza and a soft drink. Admission also includes unlimited rides on Crazy Cabs and Miner Mike Coaster, $10 in game play, a raffle prize entry, costume parade plus “Trick or Treat” candy stations, karaoke fun, music and games.
Haunted Halloween Breakfast
When: Oct. 26
Where: Haunted Trails Family Entertainment Center, 1423 N. Broadway, RT 53, Joliet
Meet two of your favorite superheroes and enjoy a hot breakfast. Admission also includes unlimited Monster Hop, Bone Shaker and Tornado Rides, $10 in game play, a free raffle prize entry, costume parade plus “Trick or Treat” candy stations, karaoke fun, music and games.
Spookview
When: Oct. 26
Where: Oak View Community Center, 4625 W. 110th St., Oak Lawn
Activities include a costume parade, ghoulish games, eerie crafts, magic, inflatables and a performance by Oak Lawn’s “IndepenDANCE” team.
All Hallow’s Eve Carnival
When: Oct. 26
Where: Alsip Park District, 12521 S. Kostner Ave., Alsip
Show off your Halloween costumes at the costume parade and contest, then decorate a pumpkin and enjoy popcorn and beverages. Each child will receive a bag for prizes upon entering the carnival.
Trail of Treats
When: Oct. 26
Where: Richton Park Community Center, 4445 Sauk Trail, Richton Park
Come dressed in your favorite costume for trick or treating, games, music, and more at this festive fun-filled event. Recommended for ages 4-11. Preregistration required.
Halloween 5K/1K
When: Oct. 26
Where: Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills
Costumes are encouraged at the Moraine Valley Health, Fitness & Recreation Center’s Halloween 5K/1K run/walk. In addition to the race, Little Pumpkin’s Patch is a free activity area for children. Strollers are allowed on the course. Money raised goes toward student scholarships.
Halloween Glow Hunt
When: Oct. 30
Where: Alsip Park District, 12521 S. Kostner Ave., Alsip
Enjoy a glow-in-the-dark Halloween egg hunt at the Apollo Playground followed by an outdoor screening of a Halloween classic on the 20-foot screen.
