9 fun Grinch events for Chicago kids

Dr. Seuss’ beloved character might not be the most popular man of the season (Santa’s pretty much got that title on lock), but he’s definitely the greenest. And even if he’s mean and foul, you’ll love to spend time with the Grinch himself with these holiday events in Chicagoland.

 

Grinchy Green Science

 

When: Nov. 30

 

Where: Discovery Center Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford

 

Dive into the holiday spirit with art and science activities during two days of festivities featuring green fizz, Grinch gunk, and tons of decorative tape. Squirt and swirl colors, design a Whoville hat, make a marble-ous game and more.

 

Breakfast with The Grinch

 

When: Dec. 7

 

Where: Kroll’s South Loop, 1736 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago

 

Eat breakfast with The Grinch, write a letter to Santa, enjoy Grinch coloring sheets and more.

 

Brunch with the Grinch

 

When: Dec. 7 & 14

 

Where: Cantigny Park 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton

 

Enjoy a special holiday brunch with the Grinch. Feast on a Grinch-themed buffet along with a viewing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The Grinch will make an appearance.

 

Story Time with the Grinch

 

When: Dec. 8, 15, 22

 

Where: Blackberry Farm, 100 S. Barnes Road, Aurora

 

Visit with the Grinch and enjoy cookies and hot cocoa. There will be story time and photo opportunities.

 

Lunch with the Grinch

 

When: Dec. 14

 

Where: Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park

 

The Grinch and Max are bringing Whoville to Cheney Mansion! Put on your Grinchy green and add a Whoville hairdo and join them for a festive holiday lunch. The Grinch and Max will be on hand to visit and play games.

Where: Schaumburg Park District, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg

 

Enjoy a ‘green-inspired’ brunch, games, crafts and a visit from the Grinch himself.

Kids can enjoy a brunch/lunch buffet, opportunity to meet and take photos with Mr. Grinch and cookies to decorate at our cookie decorating station

Where: Chuck’s Southern Comforts Cafe, 6501 W. 79th St., Burbank

 

Mr. Grinch walks around for pics with the kiddies and the big kiddies at heart! Come dressed up—it’s encouraged!

 

The Grinch at Glen Art Theatre

 

When: Dec. 21

 

Where: Glen Art Theatre, 540 Crescent Boulevard, Glen Ellyn

 

Glen Art Theatre offers free admission to the 2018 animated film.
