What kid doesn’t love getting their hands dirty with some frosting and sprinkles? These Chicago gingerbread house-making activities are sure to get your family in the holiday spirit!
It’s always fun to tackle a project with your little one, but even better when your activity also benefits those in need. Just in time for the holidays, Foodlife (located in Water Tower Place at 835 N. Michigan Ave.) will host its annual Gingerbread House Making Workshop on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 9:30-11 a.m.
For $20 a house, families can decorate handcrafted gingerbread houses with assorted frosting and gourmet candies. The proceeds from the event will be donated to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. After you’ve created your masterpiece, stick around at Foodlife for lunch at one of the 14 different kitchens serving everything from Asian to BBQ. No matter how picky your eater may be, there is truly something for everyone here.
If you’re still hankering for more gingerbread house fun, candy mecca Dylan’s Candy Bar (445 N. Michigan Ave.) will host a Gingerbread House Party from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. $99 buys you admission for one child and two adults to decorate to your heart’s delight with unlimited candy. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served to snack on while you decorate.
