Fourth of July fashion picks for kids

Who’s ready for barbecues, parties and parades? Summer is almost here and one of the season’s biggest events, Independence Day, will be here before we know it, too. But before you can celebrate, you have to find the perfect red, white and blue threads for the fam. Gone are the days of wearing a flag tee shirt every Fourth. Kids’ holiday clothing has gotten progressively cuter over the years and I, for one, could not be happier about that. These looks are easy to mix and match and are versatile enough to wear all season long. Your kids will be ready to hit up every summer event in style.

Old Navy

Americana Hot Dog Print Tank for Toddler Boys, $10.99

Americana Tiered Swing Dress for Toddler Girls, $11.50

These are both perfect parade outfits. The hot dog tank has a fun, vintage style and the swing dress is sweet without being overly frilly. And since neither is too in-your-face patriotic, both looks could be reworn multiple times throughout the summer, which is always a plus.

H&M

Striped Espadrilles, $14.99

Strappy Leather Sandals, $34.99

Both shoes feature a simple, classic design, look comfy and could easily work on both boys and girls. The espadrilles are perfect if you’re wanting to keep little feet from getting too dirty (a neverending battle) and the sandals are a cute Birkenstock knockoff for a fraction of the price.

Target

Toddler Girls’ Ruffle Ice Cream Cone One Piece, $10

Toddler Boys’ Gradient Waves Swim Trunks, $8

Why invest in pricey swimsuits when kids outgrow them over the course of summer vacation? These suits are cute, affordable and ideal for summer pool parties. I’m obsessed with the print on the girls suit and the peplum detail is precious. The boys’ trunks feature a hip print as well, and the price is unbeatable.

Gap

Girls’ Mix Fabric Chambray Dress, $21

Boy’s Plaid Convertible Button Down Shirt, $27

Older kids can be pickier about clothing, but both of these patriotic looks are winners. The chambray dress is perfect for preteens who want a little more of a sophisticated dress. The boys’ button down is more grown-up, too, and has “family photos” written all over it (that is, if you can convince him to pose).

Amazon

City Threads Boys’ and Girls’ Baseball Cap, $18.95

ThunderCloud Wide Brim Bucket Hat, $14.99

When it’s hot and sunny outside, kids require a little extra head and face protection. The baseball cap is unisex and comes in thirteen colors, including various shades of red, white and blue. This sun bonnet is super practical for babies and toddlers and can easily go from a day at the beach to an evening barbecue.
