5 Virtual Events to Celebrate Dad During Father’s Day Weekend

Whether your kiddo can paint a great Father’s Day portrait or come out of craft class with his fingers stuck together with glue, there’s a perfect event on this list for you, and they’re all virtual. From festivals to painting to concerts, dads are encouraged to participate in some and will love the presents that come out of others.


Father’s Day Event – Bunny Daddy & Me


When: June 18, 5 p.m.

Painters and artists ages 4 and older can gather their supplies to make a Bunny Daddy & Me picture or portrait for Father’s Day. Follow along the instructions and be prepared to show progress with the rest of the class. A supplies list is available at the event site.


BOING Festival


When: June 20, 10-11 a.m.


Cost: $10

Chicago Children’s Theatre is working with theater artists and musicians from around the country to make BOING! 2020, a one-of-a-kind online event, all in under one hour. Included will be the world debut of Chicago Children’s Theatre’s newest virtual puppet show, Doll Face Has a Party!, directed by Brian Selznick, writer and illustrator of “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” and “The Houdini Box,” and a “Harry Potter” illustrator, headlines this Saturday Morning Must-See CCTv webcast.


Virtual Promenade of Art Arlington Heights


When: June 20, Noon-4 p.m.

A new, virtual option to the festival will allow artists to show and sell their work and for customers to find art pieces to wear, use, and display. This festival will be held June 20-26 with a live virtual fest on June 20 when artists can talk with customers.


Virtual Breakfast with the Animals: Amphibians and Reptiles


When: June 21, 10 a.m.


Cost: $15

This event will include a live stream of animals feeding at Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House. Grab some flapjacks and OJ and join this new version of Breakfast with the Animals to learn about this grueling and treacherous conservation work, topped off with a truly amazing ending. Recommended for ages 12 and older.


Laurie Berkner Family Concert


When: June 21, 5 p.m.


Cost: $20, $80 for meet-and-greet

Sing, dance and play interactive games through your device with Laurie Berkner as she performs your favorite songs, interacts with you through the computer, & brings in a few surprises — from her house to yours.
