Chicago mom style: How to take your summer staples straight into fall

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone’s got to the dirty work. As of a few days ago, we officially began the last month of summer and although the mercury still wallows in the upper 80’s, rest assured, autumn will make her debut in approximately twenty days, this according to meteorological calculations.

By now, you’ve noticed the tell tale signs that often accompany autumn’s nearness: trains are filled with students going to and fro, higher traffic volumes and of course, earlier sunsets. In no time, the weather will be cooler which means your summer wardrobe most likely won’t last much longer.

I may not be able to offer tips on how to avoid traffic, because there is no such thing in Chicago and I can’t assure you a quiet ride home on the EL, but what I can do is offer tips on transitioning some of your summer wardrobe into fall with my tried and true Fall Survival Style Guide.

Below you will find effortless ideas on how to wear your favorite maxi dress until (at least) mid- October!

No need to put away your summer wardrobe away just yet. Show autumn who’s boss by trying some of the above mentioned options.

Have combinations not mentioned above? Leave a comment. I would love to try them.
