Review: Disney on Ice is magic for Chicago kids

I am not going to lie, trekking to Disney on Ice at the Allstate Arena was no small feat. The weather was a little questionable, it was rush hour, and we were all a little sleepy from a hectic day. However, as soon as we walked through the doors to find our seats, it was nothing short of pure magic, and I am not just talking about the amazing show we were witnessing.

The kids were absolutely mesmerized! They were sitting completely still and “oohing” and “aahing” with every moment. Their eyes were completely transfixed on the entire show, and they stopped gazing only to tell Brian and I “thank you for bringing us here!”

I guess magic is the wrong word.

Miracle seems to be more appropriate.

My kids rarely have moments like this anymore. Moments where they are sitting still and cuddling Brian and I and not wanting to break away to re-enact their version of what happens in a Blackhawks game or slipping away because they are “too busy” to sit with Mom and Dad. Sure, we go to events like this, but my kids are just little enough where they get a little distracted.

Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate was jam-packed with all of my kids’ favorite characters. Also, we all agreed that the meeting of fire and ice (if you want to know what that means you have to check out the show) was our favorite part of the evening. The night provided entertainment for all of us, but it provided so much more.

This time is fleeting. Having three little ones in our midst is going by faster than I ever could have imagined. Pretty soon there will be smartphones, and texting, and car keys (all things I don’t want to think about at the moment). At Disney on Ice we had moments of pure contentment just being with each other.

Moments that will be memories for years to come.

If you’d like memories of your own with your little ones, check out Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate this weekend at the AllState Arena or next week at the United Center!
