I am in straight up denial. Nary a school supply has been purchased and made it over my threshold. My head says pencils and crayons but my heart says popsicles and Summer Shandy. I am still grilling, wearing bathing suits and napping with the covers over my head like it’s June.
Will I pay for it next week? Probably.
Will it be worth it? Most definitely.
There is just too much fun to be had, and too many events still on my summer bucket list. The summer started out so rainy and I want to take advantage of this weather by playing as many games of wiffle ball as I can. I am also going take advantage of as many end-of-summer festivals, parties and fun while I still can, too.
The Taste of Pierogi at Toyota Park is always something that I have wanted to visit. Who can resist an entire park filled with these tasty Polish dumplings? Along with trying these delicious treats, you can also partake in the live entertainment. There are some great family deals for tickets on their website, too!
The Mokena Farm and Barn Fest is a great place to take the family and check out all kinds of old-fashioned fun. In addition to entertainment, games, raffles and food, you can check out the quilt show, outdoor flea market, or even take your chances panning for gold.
Homewood’s Giant Block Party is a perfect place to spend a Saturday with the entire family, and I mean the ENTIRE family. You can kick off your day with the pooch parade at 10 a.m. and stay all day for live entertainment, different types of food, and hanging with friends until the stars come out.
The Oddball Comedy Festival is what I am most excited about. I will be heading out to see some of my favorite comedy heroes take the stage at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park for the perfect date night with my hubby!
The sun just came out again, time for another game of wiffle ball!
