4 Chicagoland charities to support this Thanksgiving

As you prepare your children for Thanksgiving, the lesson of gratitude is an important one. Here are four local charities to get involved in this fall to help inspire your children to be grateful for what they have.

Food for Friends

On Thanksgiving 1994, Food for Friends began its mission is to help the poor who are hungry in the Chicago area. Check out their events calendar to volunteer at a Thanksgiving dinner in your area or serve at other opportunities to help assemble and distribute “blue bag” dinners to those in need.

Inspiration Corporation

Planning a holiday party? Consider Inspiration Corporation’s “Inspiration Kitchens” for your catering needs. When you use their services, you are supporting individuals on their journey to exit homelessness and poverty by learning in their kitchens.

Chicago Basket Brigade

Volunteer your time to assemble or deliver baskets to those in need this Thanksgiving with Chicago Basket Brigade. Their vision is to support families in need on Thanksgiving Day. Short on time? Donate $30 to feed a family of five this holiday season.

Feed My Starving Children

Join Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, Schaumburg or Libertyville to pack healthy meals for hungry children around the world. While you are there, you will sort and assemble food packages that will go to families in need around the world.

Share how your family is giving back this Thanksgiving on Instagram using the hashtag #ShareChicagoParent. We can’t wait to see you give back!
