8 Chicagoland Pies That Taste Homemade

Pie, Pie My Darling

Are are you hosting a Thanksgiving dinner? It can be totally and utterly overwhelming. Thankfully, there are some fantastic Chicagoland pie shops that will make your guests think that you slaved in the kitchen all day when you simply sipped on a pumpkin spice latte and scrolled through your phone. Even grandma will be fooled. Guaranteed.

Spilt Milk Pastry

The pair of sisters behind this adorable Oak Park pie shop truly encompasses the “Shop Local” philosophy. Their popular Heirloom Apple pie features apples grown nearby at Nichols’ Farm and everything served in the shop is homemade using local ingredients. In the fall and winter months, you can also choose from their savory pie menu, which includes pot pie and the flavorful Chicken Marbella.

First Slice Pie Cafe

You can feel good about indulging at this philanthropy-focused bakery. Chef Mary Ellen Diaz created the initial First Slice location as a way to give back to the local community and offers up the “first slice” to them. Diners praise the Key Lime and Chocolate Peanut Butter pies the most, but you can’t go wrong with any of their delicious pies with a side of social conscience.
