What’s the best way to warm up on a frigid winter day? With a cup of hot chocolate of course! If you’re in the Skokie area, you’re in luck! We’ve scoured the North Shore for the best cups of hot chocolate money can buy. Here are our favorites.
Colectivo Coffee
- Address: 716 Church Street, Evanston
Simplicity shines in this tasty creation, made from a blend of rich chocolate and white chocolate syrup from the Hollander Chocolate Company. This creation is served over steamed milk, but can also be made with non-dairy options (oat milk, soy milk, almond milk).
Cupitol Coffee & Eatery
- Address: 812 Grove Street, Evanston
Known for its chocolate bar, Cupitol can whip up a cup of hot chocolate in a variety of ways. First, it can be traditionally hot or blended like a frappe. In addition to ordering it in milk chocolate, it can be made in mint white hot chocolate, or spiced dark chocolate chai. Baristas will also recommend seasonal flavor shots to enhance the taste, such as hazelnut or pumpkin spice.
Glenview Grind
- Address: 1837 Glenview Road, Glenview
The baristas at Glenview Grind take hot chocolate to the next level, with four variations of this classic drink. Choose from dark, milk or white chocolate (all made from real chocolate chips) or enjoy the seasonal peppermint variety. All flavors are topped with a heaping dollop of fluffy whipped cream.
Leonidas Café Chocolaterie
- Address: 1907 Central Street, Evanston
Rumor is, if you try the hot chocolate at Leonidas, you’re spoiled for life. We can confirm that’s true. Belgian hot chocolate, known for its melting ability, is more decadent than other types of hot chocolate. The chocolate experts at Leonidas take it a step further with more than 6 flavors, including Mexican, extreme dark, white pumpkin, peppermint, floranger (dark chocolate and orange extract) and triple chocolate (our favorite).
Pinstripes Northbrook
- Address: 1150 Willow Road, Northbrook
A round or two of bowling calls for a reward. Pinstripes serves up a luscious Ghirardelli Hot Chocolate. The result is a deep chocolatey flavor, perfectly balanced with sugar, vanilla and cocoa notes. Top it off with whipped cream and you’re in for a real treat!
