We visited the Abbey Resort for the first time this past summer and we had a fantastic time. Celebrating their 50 Year Anniversary along with a renovation, the Resort sported a refreshed modern look while keeping their original distinctive architecture. I could go on and on about the awesome renovation, the marina with boat rentals and a really fun arcade with an air hockey table and pool table. They also had free bicycle rentals, access to a beach, a relaxing spa and more! This time around though, we were more interested in seeing what the Abbey Resort offered during the holidays.
After a weekend full of Christmas songs, hot chocolate and cookies, a tree lighting ceremony and of course, a chance to see Santa, I am pleased to say that the Abbey Resort will no doubt get your family in the holiday spirit!
Holiday Activities
One of the reasons that we love the Abbey is that there is always something to do. Our recent stay was no exception. The Abbey Resort provides tons of holiday activities that will make any Scrooge smile. We were able to visit “Santa’s Workshop” for crafting fun including making our own stockings, ornaments and a cute little sweet treat! Plus, any place that has marshmallows ready for dipping in chocolate is always a plus in my kids’ book! Other fun holiday activities include a yuletide bonfire and Christmas movies in the small theater room or even at the fun indoor pool.
If you love Christmas songs, the ‘Christmas Remembered’ show will no doubt get the entire family in the holiday spirit. In fact, as we left the show, my entire family – including my three-year-old – was humming songs all the way to our room. The evening show may have proved to be a little too late for our toddlers, but they do offer matinee shows.
The highlight of our stay was, of course, brunch with Santa. We didn’t have to worry about fighting crowds or waiting in line. We could just enjoy one-on-one time with the jolly old man! It was the perfect way to end our trip at the Abbey Resort!
