Here are some of the best hockey clinics for kids and teens in Chicago

Chicago venues offering fun hockey clinics for kids of all ages during the 2025-26 season.

If your child plays hockey, or is interested in trying hockey in Chicago, then you’re in luck. The following organizations will hold various hockey clinics for kids and teens throughout the 2025-26 hockey season.

Some clinics have a limited capacity and slots can fill up quickly, so make sure to register your child as soon as possible.

Chicago Bulldogs Youth Hockey Club

Give your player the edge this season with the Chicago Bulldogs Hockey School, where skill, speed and confidence take center ice. Designed for youth athletes of all levels, the program offers professional coaching in a fast-paced, supportive environment. With experienced instructors and a focus on strong fundamentals, teamwork and game awareness, this is where future stars learn to love the grind and play with heart.

Skaters and goalies alike can choose between the following tryouts and clinics at the Chicago Bulldogs Youth Hockey Club during the 2025-26 hockey season:

  • Mites: A free opportunity for kids to practice their skills.
  • Midgets, Bantams, Peewees and Squirts: This opportunity costs $750. 

To find out the specific details for each tryout session and clinic, parents can register their kids with the Bulldogs through USA Hockey. 

Grunnah Power Skating


Your kiddo can take their hockey skills up a notch with the Grunnah Power Skating Clinics in Chicago, designed for players who want to improve their edgework, speed and agility on the ice. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced skater, these clinics will give you the tools and confidence to elevate your game.

GPS Hockey School will hold the following hockey clinics in winter 2025 and summer 2026. Registration for Winter 2025 is currently open while registration for Summer 2026 opens this Thanksgiving.

Winter 2025 

  • Holiday Skate to Score Clinic: Dec. 27-28 at Glenview Community Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Road, Glenview. Registration cost is $349-399, with added costs for merchandise.
    • `Intermediate/Advanced Group (ages 8-14): 8-9:30 a.m. and 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday; 7:50-9:20 a.m. and 2:30-4:00 p.m. Sunday
    • Advanced/Elite Group (ages 11-18): 9:45-11:15 a.m. and 4:15-5:45 p.m. Saturday; 10:40-12:10 p.m. and 4:15-5:45 p.m. Sunday

Summer 2026

  • Skate to Score Clinic: June 15-18, 2026 at North Shore Ice Arena at 2111 Founders Drive, Northbrook.
    • More details to come. Registration opens on Thanksgiving.

SD Hockey

SD Hockey’s Simply Defense camp is built for players who want to dominate at the back end — covering positioning, gap control, stick work and other defense techniques. With expert coaching, video review and on-ice drills tailored for defensemen and defense-focused forwards, this camp equips participants with the tools and mindset to play smarter, stronger and more confidently.

  • 2025 Thanksgiving Clinic (All ages): 10 a.m.-noon Nov. 26 at Darien Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield Road, Darien. Cost is $99.
  • 2025 Thanksgiving Clinic (All ages): 10 a.m.-noon Nov. 28 at Fox Valley Ice Arena, 1996 S Kirk Road, Geneva. Cost is $99.
  • 2025 Christmas Clinic (All ages): 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 22-23 at Darien Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield Road, Darien. Cost is $199.
  • 2025 Christmas Clinic (All ages): 11:40 a.m.-1:40 p.m. Dec. 29-30 at North Shore Ice Arena, 2111 Founders Drive, Northbrook. Cost is $199.
  • 2025 Christmas Clinic (All ages): 9:50-11:50 a.m. Dec. 31, 2025-Jan. 2, 2026, at Fox Valley Ice Arena, 1996 S Kirk Road, Geneva. Cost is $199.

The Strictly Shooting program from SD Hockey is all about mastering every kind of shot — from wrist and snap to backhand, slap shot and flip shot. Participants can enjoy a low student-to-instructor ratio (6:1 or better), dedicated classroom and video instruction, and on-ice drills daily.

The Body Contact Camp by 200×85 focuses on mastering body-checking, board play and physical positioning under game-like conditions. With high-intensity drills and expert coaching in a small-group setting, players learn to attack the inside game, protect the puck and win battles along the boards.

Hockey on Your Block

Hockey On Your Block is a free youth hockey program designed to give kids ages 5–14 in the Chicago area full access to ice time, coaching and equipment with no previous experience required. With certified USA Hockey instructors, practice plans modeled on the American Development Model and opportunities to play in games, the program helps young athletes build skills, confidence and teamwork.

The Chicago Youth Foundation’s hockey programs guide kids from their first steps on the ice to competitive play.

  • Learn to Skate: a 10–12 week introduction focused on balance, coordination and basic skating skills.
  • Learn to Play: Practice shooting, passing and stickhandling through small-area games.
  • Join Team Chicago: Join the foundation’s competitive youth hockey program, where they hone their abilities in regular practices and local games. Classes are on-going throughout the year.
