While Batman and Superman or Iron Man and Captain America will fight each other in the comic books, Batman and the Cap won’t see the same page. Such is the battle between DC and Marvel Comics.
For one day of the year, on the first Saturday in May, the entire comic industry comes together to give away free comics, writing books specific to the day. This year, the free day is May 5, when longtime fans and newbies can find a book to pick up or try something new.
Major publishers such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment and Image Comics have created books with superheroes, Disney princesses, SpongeBob and even Bob’s Burgers.
It’s also a chance for shops to celebrate with costumes, sales, food, activities and more.
