Babies and Pregnancies Announced at Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium is having a bit of a baby boom.

Magellanic penguins, caiman lizards, bonnethead sharks and those always fascinating seahorses have all been busy while the public wasn’t watching since Shedd has been closed due to the coronavirus.

Plus, two belugas and a Pacific white-side dolphin are expecting.

Plans are in the works for Shedd to reopen so people can see the new bundles, but a date has not been announced.

“New life gives us hope and informs our growing understanding of aquatic animals and how we can successfully safeguard their future,” says Peggy Sloan, chief animal operations officer at Shedd Aquarium.

Shedd announced all of the activity on World Environment Day. It also is asking residents to join it in supporting Global Deal for Nature to protect aquatic habitats.
