Your guide to Chicago Museum Week

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to go with the family and explore, then you’re in luck! You can check out some of Chicago’s renowned museums during Chicago Museum Week. From Jan. 18-26, Chicago celebrates with discounted or free admission, exclusive offers and special programs at 12 Chicago museums.

Some highlights include free admission to the Shedd Aquarium and the Art Institute of Chicago, plus a fun free night on Jan. 24 to learn about the work of experts at Shedd, The Field Museum and Adler Planetarium (see below). And if that wasn’t enough, six other museums will join this year’s Chicago Museum Week by offering special discounts as well.

So get out and discover a new-to-you museum.

Chicago Museum Week After Hours

What: “Water, Earth and Sky,” a new event hosted by Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum, gives museum-goers the inside scoop on museum expert’s one-of-a-kind work. Plus, who can resist seeing Shedd’s animals after hours (not to mention a hot chocolate bar, cocktails and comfort food)?

When: 5-9 p.m. Jan. 24

Cost: Free for Illinois residents with a valid ID; $25 for all others.
