Andy Warhol’s Iconic Pop Art Is on Display in Glen Ellyn

The exhibit includes 94 original works and 150 of Warhol's personal photographs.

From now through September, pop art enthusiasts can experience the life of iconic artist Andy Warhol through his original works, as well as photographs, interactive exhibits and recreations that are exclusively on display at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art.

Unfolding over 10,000 square feet of exhibition space, the interactive “WARHOL” installation features 94 original works from “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop” — including the artist’s portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Mao and Mick Jagger and, yes, the beloved Campbell’s soup cans. More than 100 of Warhol’s personal photographs of New York City in the 1970s and 1980s from the College of DuPage Permanent Art Collection will also be on display.

In addition, the installation features an interactive mural, a recreation of the legendary Studio 54, a Central Park-themed outdoor cafe with rotating food vendors and a pop art print factory where inspired kids can create their own works of art.

Tips for visiting WARHOL at the CCMA

  • Trouble locating the art museum? The CCMA is located inside the larger McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage.
  • Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office. Box office hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • There are two main ticket types for this event: Anytime and Timed tickets. Anytime tickets are more expensive but offer more flexibility on your chosen day. Timed tickets will save you a chunk of change, but you need to be on time for your reservation. If your family always seems to be struggling to get out the door, consider splurging for the convenience of Anytime tickets.
  • Last entry for Anytime tickets is one hour prior to museum closing time.
  • An optional audio tour recorded by CCMA Curator Justin Witte is available for an additional $8.
  • Parents planning to carry their kiddos must use a soft-sided front-wearing carrier. Carriers cannot be on the parent’s back.
  • Concessions will be available at a Central Park-inspired outdoor cafe, including kid-approved menu items like tomato soup and grilled cheese. There will also be rotating food vendors offering everything from hot dogs and pizza to gelato.
  • Accessible parking, elevators, restrooms, drinking fountains and listening devices are on site.

Things to do with kids nearby

  • After spending an afternoon indoors, get some fresh air at a local park. One of our favorites is Village Green Park due to its spaceship playground.
  • Splash and play at the Maryknoll Splash Park, an inexpensive spray park that’s fun for kids of all ages.
  • Visit the Bookstore of Glen Ellyn, a local shop that’s been a fixture in the Glen Ellyn community for more than 60 years. Kids and parents alike will enjoy finding their next read at this old-fashioned bookstore.
