What is Vivid Creatures?
Created by Portland-based artists Heather and Fez BeGaetz, “Vivid Creatures” brings to life five vibrant sculptures that celebrate the beauty and importance of local wildlife:
- Generosity – A towering 22-foot white-tailed deer with antlers resembling tree branches, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life.
- Cadence – A graceful sandhill crane with a 26-foot wingspan, embodying the rhythms of migration and moonlight.
- Scamp – A playful fox squirrel holding a walnut, representing the role of squirrels in shaping future woodlands.
- Specta– A rainbow-colored snail perched on a hill, visible from Interstate 88, reminding us of the delicate balance in ecosystems.
- Nimbly – A shimmering dragonfly, highlighting the beauty and fragility of our natural world.
Each sculpture is strategically placed along accessible paths, allowing visitors of all abilities to engage with the art and the surrounding landscape.
