Harry Potter Fans Can Walk the Forbidden Forest Near Chicago

An interactive Harry Potter experience designed for all ages will take families through the franchise's iconic Forbidden Forest this fall.

Chicagoland families can follow a glowing trail through the iconic Forbidden Forest of the Harry Potter series this fall.

The midwest debut of Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience will arrive at Ingleside’s YMCA Camp Duncan, located about an hour north of Chicago, on Oct. 3.

The attraction is inspired by the Forbidden Forest, the dark and foreboding woods on the grounds of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series. There, visitors might stumble upon fantastic creatures from the wizarding world like Hippogriffs, unicorns and Nifflers — and cast some spells, too.

Families can stop by the magical village at the end of the trail where themed food and drinks wait, including Butterbeer. For those looking to take home a bit of the magic, there’s a gift shop with bespoke merchandise and items from the “Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” movies.

Lighting, props and effects were created by award-winning theatrical designers and experiential creators. The experience has drawn more than two million visitors across 11 cities.

The experience is designed for all ages. Timed-entry tickets are on sale now
