Chicago-area closings due to extremely cold weather

Chicagoland will be facing record-low temperatures this week, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. Be aware that the following places in Chicago and the suburbs will be closed this week. We’ll keep updating this page when new information comes in:

 

    • Several Chicagoland schools and daycare centers have closed on Wednesday and Thursday, including many universities and Chicago Public Schools. You can find a full list on the EmergencyClosingCenter.com or check with your child’s school for more details.

 

    • Some public libraries and their programs may be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Please check with your local library to see if it’s open.

 

 

 

    • Brookfield Zoo will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. They plan to reopen on Friday.

 

    • Chicago Architecture Center exhibits will be closed on Wednesday and open at noon on Thursday. All tours are canceled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    • The Field Museum will close early on Tuesday at 2 p.m. (Last admission at 1 p.m.). They will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

 

 

 

    • Lincoln Park Zoo will close early on Tuesday at 3 p.m. They will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

    • Navy Pier will be closed on Wednesday.

 

 

 

    • If you have tickets or plan to go to an event listed on our calendar, check with the host to make sure the event is not canceled.

 

 

If you plan to go out in the cold, please double check with stores, attractions and other places to make sure they’re open. Stay warm out there!
