Kingsbury Street Cafe

Just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of the North Avenue shops is beautiful Kingsbury Cafe. Adults will love sitting in the airy surroundings, reminiscent of something out of California. All the while, children will devour the yummy silver dollar pancakes served with bright neon plastic silverware just for littles. Kingsbury Cafe takes reservations for large groups- something almost nonexistent when it comes to brunch. Conveniently, if you need to run an errand at Buy Buy Baby after your meal, the store is just a block away.
Toast

Upon sitting down, your kids will be handed a cup of crayons and can immediately start coloring on the table (works out perfectly that the tablecloths are paper). Don’t pass up specialty dishes like stuffed french toast or one of the unique versions of Eggs Benedict. Kids can order items like grilled cheese, pancakes or french toast cooked to perfection with a side of fresh fruit or potatoes. Toast has two locations–one in Lincoln Park and one in Bucktown.
Bakin’ and Eggs

The staff here offers each child a mini chalkboard with chalk to draw on while waiting. On our last visit, we were immediately brought a fresh fruit cup for my son to snack on until his food arrived (without us even asking). There are always fantastic brunch and lunch options and of course, the enticing bakery items will catch your eye on the way out.
Eleven City Diner
2301 N. Clark St. or 1112 Wabash Ave.
Whether you’re clamoring for a soul-satisfying bowl of matzoh ball soup or an oversized fluffy omelette, Eleven City’s got you covered. There’s plenty of kids options and if you’re celebrating an occasion, make sure to save room for a signature milkshake or piece of cake. Since the restaurant is large, you won’t have to wait too long for a table. Head to the Lincoln Park restaurant or the South Loop location.
Southport Grocery
3552 N. Southport Ave.
Indulge in decadent bread pudding pancakes while your kiddies color on paper tablecloths. There are both breakfast and lunch meals for kids which include sides of fresh fruit and applesauce. Although Southport Grocery is on the smaller side, turnover is pretty quick and if the weather’s good, be sure to grab a seat outside in the sunshine. It’s hard to pass up the unique grocery items for sale in the middle of the restaurant including homemade pancake mixes so you can replicate Southport Grocery’s dishes at home.
