How Preschool at The Gardner School in the Chicago Area Lays the Groundwork for Growth

With 15 schools across Chicago and the suburbs, The Gardner School offers preschool programs that combine structure, support and space to explore.

Parents want more than just a place for their child to spend the day — they want an environment that supports learning, builds independence and feels like a second home.

That’s the approach behind The Gardner School, offering preschool for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

“We blend the comfort and care of a private childcare with a preschool curriculum designed to challenge, engage and inspire,” says Megan Cole, the school’s Digital Content Specialist.

Here’s what to know about this nationally accredited preschool, which has 15 locations across Chicago and its suburbs.

Academics engage the ‘whole child’

The Gardner School’s curriculum is crafted to develop the whole child, Cole says — combining strong academics with opportunities to explore and express themselves.

“There’s a mix of teacher-led and student-initiated learning,” she says. “This encourages curiosity, critical thinking and creativity.”

Children dive into language arts, math, science and social studies through a mix of structured lessons and open-ended activities.

“We place a strong emphasis on core subjects while also integrating social-emotional learning,” Cole says. “It’s all about creating a well-rounded foundation.”

Supportive, two-way communication

Daily updates through the school’s parent app and regular progress reports keep families in the loop — and reinforce a “true partnership” between teachers and parents, Cole says.

“Our team partners with parents to meet each child’s unique needs and developmental stage,” she notes. “We want to ensure every child thrives.”

A connected, welcoming culture

From classroom celebrations to family nights and conferences, The Gardner School emphasizes relationships. Teachers know every child well — and parents are part of the experience, too.

“The culture is warm, welcoming and built on strong relationships between families, teachers and children,” Cole says. “We foster a sense of belonging where every child is known and celebrated.”

By design, schools have bright classrooms, indoor and outdoor playscapes and enrichment rooms, she adds, to create a unique learning experience.

“Our safe, secure environments and caring teachers provide peace of mind for families.”

Enrichment that goes further

“We offer a variety of optional enrichment programs that allow children to explore new skills and interests,” Cole adds.

Programs in art, music, foreign language, fitness and STEAM give kids space to discover what excites them.

Many locations also feature enrichment studios, a Kids’ Café and interactive learning tech, along with the indoor and outdoor playscapes that support movement and creativity every day.

What families can expect

Children at The Gardner School are supported academically and emotionally, Cole says — with the goal of preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.

“What truly sets us apart is our commitment to providing a personalized educational experience in a premium, safe and stimulating environment,” she says.
