See Where Leadership Meets Innovation at St. John’s Northwestern Academies

From aviation and esports to friendships and character-building leadership, discover how SJNA is preparing tomorrow’s global leaders.

At St. John’s Northwestern Academies (SJNA) in Delafield, Wisconsin, education isn’t just about academic achievement — but about shaping confident, capable leaders prepared to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

A co-ed day and boarding school serving grades 6-12, SJNA is committed to blending rigorous academics, cutting-edge STEM opportunities, and a deep focus on leadership, character and self-discipline.

What makes SJNA stand apart is the structure and support it provides, says Barb Gamez, Marketing and Communications Director. Students learn in a safe, respectful environment that encourages them to grow intellectually, socially and personally.

“We build a foundation for life,” Gamez says. “We believe in empowering students to achieve their fullest potential.”

Specialized tracks for big aspirations

SJNA’s academic offerings go far beyond the traditional. Specialized tracks in Engineering, Robotics, Aviation and Leadership ensure students graduate with more than a diploma; they leave with experience, certification and a head start on college or career.

  • Students interested in aviation can train using a full-size flight simulator, laying the groundwork for a private pilot’s license.
  • Those with a passion for technology can join competitive robotics and esports teams.
  • SJNA’s esports team recently claimed the Wisconsin state championship, opening scholarship doors and future pathways in the rapidly growing field.
  • The JROTC program provides even more opportunity, especially for those with aspirations of attending service academies. Cadets participate in drill competitions, silver rifle exhibitions and formal leadership roles that foster accountability, time management and honor.

A global environment

With students from nearly 25 different countries, SJNA offers an environment that’s both multicultural and enriching.

“This exposes our students to learning about other cultures earlier than most, and prepares them for working with a diverse college community and workforce later,” says Gamez.

This global student body, paired with SJNA’s structured yet supportive atmosphere, creates a community where students feel seen, heard and challenged to grow. Students working together across languages and backgrounds in Model UN or DECA, discovering not only how to collaborate but how to lead with empathy.

Extracurriculars that expand the classroom

Students can explore drama, STEAM projects, drone piloting courses and even 3D printing, gaining hands-on experiences that complement and extend their learning.

Many students also participate in competitive robotics and debate team, developing skills that will serve them in college and beyond.

Parents considering SJNA can be assured that this is a place where students are prepared for the next step, Gamez says.

The Class of 2025 has already been offered more than $7 million in scholarships, Gamez adds, including two NCAA Division I full scholarships and acceptances to prestigious universities like NYU, UCLA, Notre Dame and numerous ROTC scholarships.
