6 Ways to Shop on Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday was created as a way to promote local shopping during the holidays. Not to mention, these businesses need us more than ever as they try to survive during this very difficult year. On Nov. 28, you can still support these small businesses at home while ticking off your list for holiday shopping.

Black Shop Friday

To encourage Chicagoans to shop local, Black Shop Friday features more than 500 Black-owned businesses across the city. Their list includes shops, restaurants and other ways to support these businesses online.

Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber

Support a business or restaurant in Lincoln Square or Ravenwood, and you can enter the chamber’s raffle. All you have to do is email your receipt from Nov. 28 to info@lincolnsquare.org. The more receipts you enter, the more chances you’ll have to win!

Illinois Made

Every year, the Illinois Office of Tourism releases a holiday gift guide featuring small businesses around the state. You can easily shop online and find Chicagoland businesses to support including Edgewater Candles, Lambs Farm and Justice of the Pies.

La Grange Flash Sale

If you want to shop small and snag some good deals, shop at La Grange. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 28, take advantage of special offers and free gifts with your purchase. Offers vary from store to store.

Chicago Parent Holiday Gift Guide

Consider buying your children’s gifts at local toy stores. We’ve listed 50 toys under $50, and you can find some of these items at the following stores: Building Block Toys, Moore Toys & Gadgets and *play.

Local Businesses That Help Our Community

Even when small businesses are struggling, they’re still finding ways to support our community. They help locals by supporting non-profits or hosting special community events. A few of our favorites that give back are Kido, Makoshey and Bubbles Academy.
