That’s why gyms that offer on-site childcare are the best invention ever for busy Chicago parents. Here are a few places where you can get your sweat on while your child is safely cared for.
Ages: 12 weeks to age 12

The gym is attached to Swedish Covenant Hospital, but is open to the public. Parents can enjoy group classes, cardio coaching and even indulge in clinical massage while children get their play on in the KidCenter. Activities include storytime, puzzles, games, an infant area and dress-up station. All attendants are CPR and first-aid certified, so parents can feel at ease knowing their kids are being watched by professionals.
Ages: newborn to 11 months

Parents can take group classes like yoga, pilates, cardio kickboxing and body combat. The gym’s kids club features an infant care center, a reading room and play equipment to get your little one’s energy out while you get exercise in — win/win! Ages: 6 weeks and older
Cost: Starts at $8 per drop in session, $45 unlimited monthly pass for one child, $75 monthly pass per family

Both Lincoln Park and Illinois Center locations feature childcare. Lincoln Park has three different kid centers: babies ages infant to 2, toddlers age 2-5 and kids ages 5 and older. Each area has age and developmentally-appropriate activities (for instance, only kids 5 and older are allowed to use climbing equipment). The gym also offers a Parent’s Night Out program at the Lincoln Park location for when you’re in need of a date night.
Lakeshore Sport & Fitness
Ages: 3 months to 7 years
Cost: $10 per 2 hours, packages are available to members
Where: Various locations in Chicagoland (The Gold Coast and Loop locations do not currently offer childcare.)
The Kids Club at Equinox is just as sophisticated as the parent facilities (which include group classes, personal training, pilates and a health spa). Offering play-based learning, crafts, movement and imaginative play all housed in a modern and trendy space, this definitely isn’t your average gym childcare.
Ages: 3 months to 11 years
Cost: Included in Junior membership and higher
Where: Various locations in Chicago suburbs
Swim, play tennis or rock climb while your kids enjoy up to 2.5 hours of drop-off care in an area designated for their age group (infant, toddler and kids 3 and older). Babies engage in sensory play, kids ages 1-2 can explore tumbling and obstacle courses, and older kids will get their wiggles out in the play maze and learning lab.

Cost: $8 per hour for one child, $4 for each additional child

Prenatal Fit is for both the expecting and postpartum mama, offering low impact classes like yoga, pilates, barre, Zumba and Mommy & Me. Need a break from your babe? The popular fitness chain offers group fitness, interval training, personal training and spa and salon services for adults while kids stay occupied with toys, crafts and a children’s climbing gym. The “Child’s Play” area is also video monitored, so you can sneak quick peaks at your kids in between sweat sessions.
