Adaptive Play Time at DuPage Children’s Museum
Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15, 2024

This monthly event provides a modified environment for play and learning for children and their caregivers. It is intended for families with disabilities, on the autism spectrum and/or with sensory processing disorders. Pre-registration is required.
Blue Man Group Chicago Sensory-Friendly Performance at Briar Street Theatre

For its annual sensory-friendly performance there will slight modifications made in order to create a sensory-friendly show that better accommodates individuals and families affected by autism. Briar Street Theatre will be transformed into a calming environment complete with bean bags, dim lighting and quiet corners for anyone seeking a sensory break from the excitement of the show. A portion of sales will be donated to the local autism advocacy organization, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation.
Chuck E. Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sunday
Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1, 2024

- Cost: Free
On the first Sunday of every month, the play area will open two hours early for children with autism or sensory sensitivities. It will have reduced lighting and noise.
Everyone at Play at Kohl Children’s Museum
Oct. 13 and Nov. 17, 2024
- Address: 2100 Patriot Blvd., Glenview
- Cost: Free
Families with children with special needs are invited to the museum to explore the exhibits while it is closed to the general public. It also has a quiet room for stimulation breaks. Pre-registration is required.
A Pumpkin Patch Party for Special Needs/Autism/Down Syndrome in Chicago

Calm Waters at Shedd Aquarium

Calm Waters is an exclusive event for guests with disabilities and Veterans to explore Shedd Aquarium’s exhibits and experiences in a comfortable and accepting environment. Modifications for this event will include limited capacity and streamlined entry with advance registration. Family members and companions are welcome.
Low-Sensory Mornings at Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago
