Chuck E. Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sunday

Jan. 5, Feb. 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6, Aug. 3, Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, 2025

On the first Sunday of every month, the play area will open two hours early for children with autism or sensory sensitivities. It will have reduced lighting and noise.

Marriott Theatre Presents: The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System

March 22, 2025

  • Address: 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire
  • Cost: Free 

Enjoy the one-hour musical journey, based on the beloved children book. The ASL-interpreted performance at 10 a.m. Each performance will be followed by a Q&A session with the cast. 

Adaptive Play Time at DuPage Children’s Museum

This monthly event provides a modified environment for play and learning for children and their caregivers. It is intended for families with disabilities, on the autism spectrum and/or with sensory processing disorders. Pre-registration is required. 

Calm Waters at Shedd Aquarium

April 6, 2025

  • Address: 1200 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago
  • Cost: $39.95/ages 12-plus, $29.95/ages 3-11, free/2 and under

Calm Waters is an exclusive event for guests with disabilities and Veterans to explore Shedd Aquarium’s exhibits and experiences in a comfortable and accepting environment. Modifications for this event will include limited capacity and streamlined entry with advance registration. Family members and companions are welcome.

Everyone at Play at Kohl Children’s Museum

April 6, May 18 and June 29, 2025

  • Address: 2100 Patriot Blvd., Glenview
  • Cost: Free

Families with children with special needs are invited to the museum to explore the exhibits while it is closed to the general public. It also has a quiet room for stimulation breaks. Pre-registration is required.
