The holidays can be a bit overwhelming for a child with special needs and their families. But that shouldn’t mean they should miss out on making all of the holiday memories other kids get to make. We have three great events created especially with your family in mind.
- ChiTAG this weekend. The Chicago Toy& Game Fair this weekend at Navy Pier has partnered again with the National Lekotek Center to host a Super Power Sensory Hour Nov. 19-20. Families with special needs get in one hour earlier than the public so kids get to experience all of the hottest toys and games at the largest toy and game fair in the country without the crowd. Not only that, but they get in free. 9 a.m.-10 a.m. each day. Look for the Lekotek booth, which will have resource materials, arts and crafts and a Chill Out Zone. Register here.
- Santa House Special Needs Night Dec. 6-8. Santa is setting up house on the Naperville Riverwalk and has hours just to hear wishes from children with special needs and have a photo taken. Reservations are required and only a few spots are open. Santa is free, photos are or two for . 5-8 p.m. Dec. 6-8. - Special Kids Day Dec. 7. A day for kids with special needs, their siblings and families to celebrate the joy of the holidays in an environment planned for their unique needs. Santa will be there for pictures. Plus, face painters, balloon blowers, a craft to make, music, story time, homemade cookies and a quiet room. 3:30-8 p.m. Dec. 7.
