When lunchtime rolls around, a new survey says kids prefer a meal from home to one provided by their school.
According to a Weekly Reader Research survey of kids ages 6-18, 62.6 percent rated lunches from home an‘A’ on quality, healthiness and nutritional value while only 33.4 percent rated school lunches a‘B.’
Typical kid favorites—pizza, hamburgers and chicken fingers/drumettes—topped the list of school food favorites among kids who buy lunch regularly. While those may not be the healthiest lunch options, 34.2 percent of kids also wanted a salad bar added to their school cafeteria. Who says kids don’t like vegetables?
