Late night feedings and sleepless nights go hand in hand with having a newborn. Moms likely take on the majority of these night time duties, especially when nursing, but just how is it possible that dads are sleeping like logs through those screeching newborn wails of hunger?
It’s simple. They’re faking it!
According to the 2014 Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey, 44 percent of parents suspect their partners have pretended to be asleep to avoid late night feedings.
38 percent of dads surveyed admit they have actually done so! But moms aren’t completely off the hook. 28 percent of them say they’ve pretended to be asleep as well.
Didn’t you know? It’s every man for himself when it comes to nighttime feedings.
To celebrate the launch of Chicco’s NaturalFit Advanced Feeding& Soothing System, which is designed to simplify bottle feeding for parents and their newborns, Chicco USA polled new moms and dads to get the inside scoop on what goes on during the wee hours of feeding-filled sleepless nights.
Some additional findings from the survey include:
* A whopping 91 percent of moms surveyed agree they take on the majority of the late night feedings.
* Although late night feedings put added strain on new parents, the bonding between parent and child during the wee hours is worth the lack of sleep. 75 percent of parents report those late night feedings have deepened the bond between them and their babies.
* 98 percent of moms and 94 percent of dads who check social media while feeding the baby in the middle of the night report Facebook as the social network they are most likely to visit.
