Chicagoland offers an abundance of family-friendly suburbs, but narrowing down the perfect place to call home can be a challenge.
Niche, a trusted site known for its rankings and data on towns and schools, recently released its 2024 list of the Best Places to Raise a Family in the Chicago Area. This ranking considers several factors, including school quality, crime rates, age demographics, affordable housing, and proximity to essentials like childcare, libraries and grocery stores.

Best Chicagoland Suburbs to Raise a Family
1. Long Grove

Long Grove is a charming little town that’s 35 miles from Chicago. According to Niche, it is ranked as the No. 1 best place to raise a family in Illinois and places with the best public schools in Illinois.
2. Clarendon Hills

Tucked away in the Western Suburbs, Clarendon Hills gives a small-town feel with its tight-knit community. You can also find plenty of restaurants and shops in the downtown area.
