About GISC:
The German International School Chicago (GISC) is an independent, not-for-profit, bilingual IB World School. Since opening its doors in 2009, GISC has grown to over 100 students from Pre-K through Middle School. Every school year, a grade level is added. During the 2017-2018 school year, our oldest students are currently in 7th grade, and for the 2018-2019 school year, an 8th grade will be added. GISC intends to grow to the completion of high school.
GISC’s curriculum is taught mainly in German with an intercultural approach. GISC students work on transdisciplinary units with global perspectives within the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB). Low student/teacher ratios enable students to learn in a supportive and individualized environment that nurtures curiosity and creativity while fostering global awareness. GISC students – fluent in German and English – will become well-rounded, creative, responsible, and tolerant global citizens. GISC welcomes students of all backgrounds and nationalities. The current student body represents 30 different nationalities. It is a very open-minded, diverse, positive, and international learning institution with a strong sense of community.
GISC is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB). GISC is also a Provisional Member of the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and an official PASCH Partner School.
