Looking for some budget-friendly family fun this winter? Then you'll love the return of this special pop-up from the North Shore's favorite children's museum.
Kohl Children's Museum is hosting its very own satellite museum in Waukegan, and families can experience it for free. Filled with various learning stations for children, the pop-up is running now through March 23 at Urban Edge, an art gallery in downtown Waukegan. It will be open to the public on Thursday evenings and Saturdays.

“Because of the Kohl Children’s Pop-Up Museum, children in our community will have access to very high-quality learning experiences,” Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham said in a statement.
The pop-up museum allows families to interact with elements of the "Animal Secrets" exhibit, a puppet theater, an art studio, reading nook and other stations featuring STEM activities. In addition, attendees will receive at-home activities to continue the learning fun.
“Given the outstanding response to our pilot pop-up museum earlier this year, we look forward to continuing to extend the museum’s offerings to underserved areas of the greater Chicago community,” said Sheridan Turner, president and CEO at Kohl Children's Museum, in a statement.
If you don't have a chance to visit the Waukegan location, the pop-up museum's next stop will be from April 1 to May 25 in Round Lake Beach.
