6 Chicago museum exhibits closing this weekend

This freezing weather isn’t going anywhere, so it’s time to bundle up and brave the cold. If you’re looking for something to do with the family, check out these special exhibits at your favorite Chicago museums this weekend before they close.

1. Jurassic World: The Exhibition 

“Jurassic World” fans, don’t miss out on this incredible dinosaur experience at The Field Museum. Enter the world-famous Jurassic World gates as you explore the “park” through an interactive guided tour with interactive educational elements of the prehistoric creatures.

2. Brick by Brick

Find your inner builder at this Museum of Science and Industry exhibit. Guests will learn all about the wonders of architecture and engineering through more than a dozen gigantic Lego-built structures.

3. Very Eric Carle

Everyone’s favorite picture books come to life at the Chicago Children’s Museum. Your kiddos will follow the footsteps of Eric Carle’s “Very” series from wiggling like the Very Hungry Caterpillar and weaving a web like the Very Busy Spider.

4. Specimens: Unlocking the Secrets of Life

Witness a vast amount of objects from The Field’s personal collections. With specimens from every continent and ocean on this planet, this exhibit lets your family get up close with dinosaur bones, insects, fossilized plants and more.

5. Christmas Around the World and the Holidays of Light

The holidays might be over, but who says we have to stop celebrating? Marking its 75th year, the Christmas Around the World exhibit at MSI remains a beloved Chicago tradition you don’t want to miss.

6. Chasing Eclipses

Embrace the total solar eclipse phenomenon for one last time at Adler Planetarium, where you can learn all about these rare celestial appearances at the “Chasing Eclipses” exhibit. Plus, the planetarium is offering free admission to Illinois residents on Jan. 7.
