Juneteenth Celebration
to
Centennial Park - Tinley Park 7601 167th Street, Tinley Park, Illinois 60477
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It's a day to reflect on where we've been, celebrate how far we've come, and create visions for the future we want to see! Families can break bread together as community while adhering to social distancing guidelines (water and prepackaged snacks) and close out the discussion with a reading of the poem "We Rose," the "official" poem of the Juneteenth holiday.
The purpose of this event is to:
- Spread awareness of Juneteenth as an American holiday
- A chance to celebrate all the progress that's been made
- To exchange ideas on the work that still needs to be done
- Because in spite of it all, life is to be celebrated
Event Cost: Free.
Event Times: 5:30-9:30 p.m.
