Northwestern University School of Communication Theatre Department storytellers will read and perform books for kids weekly on the Wirtz Center Facebook Page and the Wirtz Center Youtube Channel.

April 25 - "The Berenstain Bears and the Tooth Fairy," Ever wondered what it was like to be the tooth fairy? Come hear Ilana Abusch (’22) perform the classic story “The Berenstain Bears and the Tooth Fairy,” and learn how to go on tooth missions like a tooth fairy.
May 2 - “The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-Be,” The Prince must find a true Princess soon, or else the Queen will take away his allowance! But when no one is able to pass the Queen’s test, a very smart Pea decides to take matters into their own hands and help out an old friend along the way. Join us for this retelling of a classic tale, and get a peek behind the curtains here at Storytime to see how we create stories each week!
May 9 - “Sensory Adventure with the Very Hungry Caterpillar,” Join Seesaw Theatre Storytellers in exploring Eric Carle’s classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The story of a young caterpillar with a very large appetite who eats his way through some delicious foods until he goes through metamorphosis first by building and living in a cocoon and then turning into a beautiful butterfly. We will explore the sights, feelings, movements, tastes, and sounds of this story!
May 16 - “Mal Makes a Friend – An Adaptation of Pygmalion and Galatea,” When Mal finds a magical cure to her quarantine loneliness, she wonders if it’s too good to be true. Her new friend Téa is funny, interesting–and imaginary? This modern retelling of the classic myth of Pygmalion and Galatea explores friendship, frustration, and the power of a wish.
May 23 - “The Princess and the Pauper the Musical,” Join us for the exciting story and classic music of Mattel Entertainment’s “Barbie: Princess and the Pauper” and participate in all our follow along activity packet as you go! Kids of all ages will love watching Princess Annalise and Erika swap lives, pursue their dreams, and save the kingdom.
May 30 - “The Waa-Mu Show Storytime,” Join some of the many students involved in Waa-Mu, as they zoom through each step in the process of going from a tiny idea to a fully written student musical. Then, don’t miss the 90th Annual Waa-Mu Show, “The Secret of Camp Elliot!”
June 6 - “Why is the Sea Salty?” Martin and Kouba are brothers by blood, but their personalities could not be more different. One is greedy, the other one as selfless as one can be. And then a devil and an old grinder enter the story. How do these four explain why the sea is salty?
