Join Chicago Sinfonietta, the nation's most diverse orchestra, for a special program to celebrate America, the men and women who serve, and pride in shared struggles and triumphs that unite Americans as a whole. Under the helm of Mei-Ann Chen, audiences will embark on a musical journey through the eyes of three very different composers, first with Charles Ives's Variations on “America”, followed by Vietnam Veteran James “Kimo” William's Symphony for the Sons of Nam, Chapter 2 and the world premiere of a new orchestral version of his work, Veteran's Lament accompanied by a never-before-seen video montage of images of our soldiers, from the Revolutionary War to the present and concludeing with the inspiration of Antonín Dvořák's orchestral masterwork New World Symphony.
